This week we have experienced what I would call true revival here at Ambassador Baptist Church. Every evening this week our church family met for a time of prayer and preaching with the intention of seeking God. It has been exciting to watch as the Holy Spirit has led. Even after the services were over I saw folks kneeling at their seats asking God to do a special work in their life. After the Monday evening service there were small groups of folks at different parts of the auditorium with tears in their eyes getting things right between each other. On another evening I noticed a pack of cigarettes and a lighter at the alter as one person surrendered that area to the Lord. On another evening the church experienced a spontaneous prayer meeting, unlike any I have ever been a part of, that lasted longer than the preaching service itself. The prayer meeting was wonderful, one person would pray and then another and another. I noticed by Thursday evening the book table where we made many resources available on revival and the Christian life had completely sold out. God has truly worked. We have seen a spark of revival and we pray that the wind of His Spirit will continue to fan this small flame of revival in our hearts and lives.
There is a big difference between revival and a revival meeting. A revival itself is God awakening his people to authentic Christianity. The type of Christianity that was personified in the life of Jesus Christ. A revival meeting is just a time where people get together in hopes of revival. My hearts’ desire as a Pastor is to be an authentic Christian that can lead others to a genuine authentic Christianity where revival is a natural part of that Christian experience.
Let me ask you a question on this topic of revival and evangelism. Is your kind of Christian experience worth sharing with the non-Christian world? Now I do understand that intrinsic Christianity itself is worth sharing, however what I am asking is this, Is your Christianity, that is your personal Christian experience, worth sharing? I would love to hear your thoughts to this question.
